While JACis youth were in Poland..... (19-25.01.2015)

The week from 19th January, JACis was pretty empty, because almost all youngsters who are usually attending JACis went to the Youth Exchange in Poland! On some days we were more volunteers than youngsters. Maybe you think it was boring but we actually had some interesting activities.

We started the week with our cooking activity! On Monday we were cooking fried mashed potatoes which was supposed to be a traditional German meal but Russians also claimed that its traditional and the internet said something about Belgium... So let’s say we had an European traditional meal! It was really nice and because we weren’t so many everyone could eat enough to get full.

Preparing the Tiramisu

Tiramisu is ready!

On Tuesday Georgiana and Paul went to another cooking workshop at Zeimuls where Tamara, an Italian volunteer, showed us how to cook original Italian Tiramisu. It was very interesting and of course delicious!

Thursday 22nd us volunteers went to Zeimuls to present our project volunteers united. The event was called Jauniesu Forums and us volunteers and youth workers had the possibility to present what they are doing or have been doing and then a jury decided which project should win an award. We saw a lot of youth, project's ideas, and organizations from Rezekne, along with their work. Even if we only had 3 minutes, our presentations was the most interactive and interesting. We were very proud!

After that us volunteers went to visit Tamaras English conversation club where we played “Who am I?” which was fun. When we finished and actually wanted to leave Clemence and Paul did an Impro session with their instruments and even swapped them although no one really knew how to play the others instrument! But in the end they even found a harmony :D

On Friday we did our movie evening for the first time in Zeimuls together with Tamara. We watched “BANKSY - Exit through the Gift Shop”.

On Saturday Georgiana organized a teambuilding training for some youngsters of youth council. We did trust and teamwork activities and we discussed about topics like trust, communication and teamwork. It was very nice to spend time with the youngsters and to see how they overcome themselves and work together. In the end everyone was happy and learned a lot!

Playing cadrs?

Debriefing...

Feeling the trust

Saving our people :)

On 25th January in Festival Park from Rezekne, local people celebrated the Snow festival. A lot of kids with their parents participated to a competition with a lot of funny games in the snow. The lion mascot animated the atmosphere, making everybody happy. Clemence and Georgiana were volunteering in this event - they prepared hot tea for everyone. A good moment to practice latvian language.
