On first of June 2015 the JACis volunteers organized a football (soccer) tournament in Rezekne. The idea was to make a tournament which is open to everyone, no matter if boy or girl or professional or hobby player. They were separated into two age groups from 12 to 15 and 16 to 25. First there weren’t so many teams but in the end 11 teams participated, 7 teams in the younger age group and 4 in the older one! On Monday, they all met at the mini pitch in Daugava stadium and began to play. At the same time, Moritz and Clemence prepared the kubb game and a fire to bake bread, which the youngsters really enjoyed. The first group took really long because they were playing in two groups and then the winners against each other. The winner team got a coupon for free bowling and the second place a coupon for LaPizza and they all were so happy! Then around 2 o clock the older group started playing and had some really interesting matches. In the end the Erasmus student team won much deserved although the other teams were pretty good too. They were also super happy because they won a coupon for their favorite bar in Rezekne, where they will celebrate their victory ;)
All in all it was a successful event, because of good cooperation and support of the local football coach Andris and of course because of Vijas great connections and efforts at persuasion to make people participate! A very big thank you also goes to Agita who helped me a lot at convincing sponsors and preparing everything! Our generous sponsors were, Swedbank, who gave a lot of sweets for all the youngsters, Lapizza who gave some gift cards for free food and Sansibar who gave a really big coupon worth 30€! And also the support of the other volunteers Clem and Moritz was really good, they were helping a lot to keep the children busy who were not playing! So here is a big thank you to all supporters and participants!
