Seven HillsFestival (25-31. May)

This was the last week of school so we were starting to breath the sweet holiday air more and more. Also for the EVS volunteers it was the last week of their afternoon program because starting with the 1st of June JACis will be open between 11:00 and 17:00.
 On Monday, Moritz has a great initiative to cook outside. Even if we haven't planned anything before we took the oven outside, the table and the cooking utensils and we started to cook Tempura in the garden around JACis. We had a lot of fun, we listened to the entries from Eurovision 2015 and we enjoyed the nice weather and the snacks.

But this was not the only cooking activity of the week. Being asked by JACis, Moritz baked again his speciality - bread on stick. It is a lot of fun preparing this small and delicious bread.

When they had some free time Moritz and Paul continued to work in the front garden for the herb spiral, bringing stones and preparing the earth for the future plants. Besides that Paul was busy all the week preparing the last details for football tournament: putting up posters in the city, finding sponsors, talking with the teams and the coach, preparing the program and the prizes.

On Tuesday Clemence, Karina and Vlad worked a lot in order to prepare a flashmob about corruption. They wrote a script, chose the main characters, decided about the location where they wanted to film and take pictures, prepared the materials and costumes. In the next day we put all these ideas intp practice  in the Library and at the Mara. The team was great and even if the weather was not so good and it rained a little bit but we worked hard in order to show the consequences of corruption.

On the same Tuesday, Karina and Georgiana took part to a presentation in Augstskola about Confucianism - the religion of China. They learned about the history of China and enjoyed meeting new people.

On Thursday  Clemence, Paul and Tamara participated to a talent show competition: Manc Akorc 2015. All JACis went to suport them and in the same time to enjoy the show.

Friday we started the day by celebrating the Latvian writer A. Kukkojs. We get together in front of Rezeknes museum where there is the statue of this famous person. Justine give us some information about Kukkojs life and career and the youth read some of his poems.

In the afternoon, Georgania had the last meeting for the preparation of the training with Red Cross. She met the youth from Red Cross that will help with the development of some session and she finished to discuss the last details of the event.

The weekend started soon with "Seven Hills Festival" We enjoyed all the days of the festivals and we were impressed by all the program: a lot of concerts, activities in the city, people walking and spending time outside, living statues, exhibition etc. A lot of energy for the beginning of the summer!

The sunday crowned the week with a most interesting activity. Clemence and Moritz got to participate in the activity "NePazustAdamova", dont get lost in Adamova. Said activity was organized by local volunteers, and, as the name might suggest, was staged at the shore of the picuresque Adamova lake. Even though they did not win any prizes, the time spent with the JACis team was full of fun and new thoughts.

18-24 may! JOrik week

The week was rythmed by the differents language lessons, board games. Everyone was playing, we were a lot of people, for a funny and good result.
Moritz start his activity about herbals garden. It was a physical work : bring stone, bring earth. But also a work of building and concentration : put the stone in the right place, be carreful with the construction in general. Everyone is quite exiting at the idea to plant some herbes, for used after in the food workshop.

On Wednesday, we made the food workshop. We made some biscuits. It was really tasty. Perfect for drink a tea, and have some discussions around the table.

 

On the same day the lady from Social department of the Municipalty, visit JACis and talked with youth about what makes them happy. They shared tehir impresions and make a collage about happines.

 

Also, during all the week we repeat for the performance of Russian poem in Jorik. We present our performance on Saturday. And we are working on a project for present this poems in Russia.
On Thursday, we went promote the football tournament in somes places of Rezekne. Paul is preparing a lot for this event and we are all expecting a lot of teams to participate.
After such a long work we enjoyed a lot some board games: Ligretto was the favorite game of this week :)
