Kubb week (27th of April - 3rd of May)

Even if we are still confronted with rainy and windy days, spring is finally comming to Rezekne. And once it's spring, a lot of activities are waiting to be planned and implemented by the JACis team.
In 3 weeks we will have a performance with the theatre. In order to have a great show, Monday we had a meeting with Gena, one of the director, who had a new idea and who decided to teach us a dance that represents the story of  grain from the day its sown until it is used for baking bread. We had a lot of fun learning some simple steps and being coordinating by a russian team.

Almost every day of the week, Clem and Moritz took advantage of the sun and organized outdoor activities in the park. There they were playing the new game - Kubb.The rules are simple: Two teams try knocking over the wooden cubes of the opposing team. Then, the king, who is placed in the middle, has to be hit. There is more to it, but the rules are easy to pick up and playing is a lot of fun.

In the meantime, Georgiana was preparing the training "Connected by interculturality". The training was organised in collaboration with GORS and the aim was to bring together local youth, international students and volunteers and to raise awarness about interculturality. The participants played a lot of games and had interesting discussions that helped them to become more tolerant and to integrate more easily into a new culture.

On Thursday Moritz participate to the English Conversation Club in Zeilmuls and he presented the kubb game to the youth from there. After that he spend the day in JACis talking with the youth about  science and playing Quiz game.


The long weekend (celebration of 1st of May and The Day of Independence for Latvia) was celebrated by our volunteers with long trips. Paul decided to visit Russia - he went to Moscow and St Petrersburg and he spent 10 beautiful days there.

Georgiana and Clemence decided to visit a little bit of Lithuania. They spend 3 days visiting Kaunas, Trakay and Vilnius. They were very impressed by the beauty of those cities and they enjoyed talking with other EVS volunteers and sharing their experiences a lot.

Moritz spent this weekend in Riga, meeting a friend and enjoying the nice weather.
