Poutine, Lake Razna, Borderguards (8-14th of June)

On Monday we had some nice cooking activity a French Canadian recipe called “Poutine” which Moritz discovered. It was really interesting to cook and of course tasty! We will have to add it to the recipe wall soon but at the moment we are busy with planning our travels and the seminar.

On the same day we had a visitor from Valmiera, a Ukrainian volunteer called Sev who stayed in JACis for some time and was talking with Vija really good in Russian. After we finished cooking and eating and Sev left, we had a small meeting about the plan for the seminar! It was a little bit complicated and inefficient because Agita wasn’t there to help translating so Moritz, Paul and google translate where trying to make a conversation possible!
Anyway on the next day Agita and Georgiana were also there but Moritz was missing so we could do again not a complete round. But we prepared as far that we could say what we will check out on the next day, Wednesday, when we visited the location at Raznas Lake!
On Wednesday then we went in the morning to the lake not too far from Rezekne. It is a really beautiful and amazing place, we visited the house where we are going to stay on the seminar and then we discovered the area around and found a really beautiful place for swimming which Clemence and Paul immediately tried out, it was very fresh but also nice! Then we went with a pedal boat on the lake where we enjoyed the time but also were talking about the seminar and the treasure hunt we were going to prepare. When we arrived back on land, we searched for a good route for the treasure hunt and had some really nice ideas! We prepared as far as we could at that time and then went back with the bus in the late afternoon. It was a really nice and relaxing day but still we were quite productive!

The rest of the week passed very quickly with a lot of meeting and preparation for the seminar. Also Clemence had to travel to France for her exam to the University. Good luck Clem, come back with good news!
